Welcome choreographer @reinahidalgo521 to Align Talent Collective 💚 Her name means Queen. Some people grow into a title. She was born holding it. Twenty-one years in entertainment is a feat in itself, and Reina’s spent every one of them at the top of it. P!nk. Daddy Yankee. The Oscars. So You Think You Can Dance. She’s built work for the biggest stages there are, and she still coaches the next generation like it’s the most important room she’s ever been in. But a resume can’t show you what makes Reina, Reina. She is warm, spiritual and endlessly kind, and in the same breath, she’s a fiery Afro-Latina Cubana who takes up every inch of space she’s earned. The softness and the heat don’t compete in her, they make each other stronger. Being around her feels like being lifted and held to the earth at the same time. We began our relationship twenty years ago, so finding our way back to each other here feels like the least surprising thing in the world. She is everything this collective is built on. We don’t sign résumés. We sign humans. And Reina is the one who was a queen before any stage ever called her that. Welcome @gennaxcarey to Align Talent Collective 💚 You meet Genna once and feel like you’ve known her for years. Everyone says the same thing. She’s danced for A24 and Charli XCX, on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, at the Park Avenue Armory. She’s built light-sculpture performances, shot 16mm film she edits herself, moved through burlesque and ballet and everything the word dancer can’t quite hold. An interdisciplinary artist in the truest sense. But a resume can’t show you what makes Genna, Genna. She’s the rare artist who lets the work speak and hands the microphone to everyone around her. Her collaborators caption her own performances for her. Her feed is a love letter to the people she makes with. Watch her move and you understand why they all keep coming back, there’s something grounded in her, something that pulls you in and makes you feel held. She’s the steadiest kind of magnetic. A main judge on Come Dance With Me. OUT100. The cover of GAYTIMES. The credits could carry anyone’s career. They barely scratch who he is. But a resume can’t show you what makes Dexter, Dexter. What you see on his feed is exactly who he is. A fierce advocate who’s spent his career making room where there wasn’t any. A magnetic, joy-first presence who turns a performance into a celebration and a room full of strangers into his people. This week’s 'Notes from Align' was mine to write. I took to my journal to share with you what brought me to Align. I’ve spent most of my career showing up for other people. Quietly making sure everything runs smoothly, everyone is taken care of, nothing falls through the cracks. I loved every second of it. And then one day I realized it was time to take a leap of faith and it just so happened to be on me this time. I wrote this one by hand. I hope you feel that.
